MiroFish: the repo and the setup

You give MiroFish seed material and ask it a question in plain words. It builds a world of AI people with their own backgrounds and memories, lets them interact, and writes you a prediction report. You can then chat with any of them.

Free and open source, with over 79,000 stars on GitHub. It runs on your computer.

What you need first

01 Node.js 18 or newer

Runs the MiroFish screen. Check with node -v.

You need this

02 Python 3.11 or 3.12, and uv

Runs the engine behind it. Check with python --version and uv --version.

03 An AI model key

Any model that works with the OpenAI format. The repo's default is Qwen-plus on Alibaba Bailian. You pay that provider for what you use.

04 A Zep Cloud key

The memory for the AI people. Zep's free monthly quota is enough for simple runs.

The README warns it uses a lot of model calls. Try fewer than 40 rounds first.

Three steps to your first simulation

On a computer, in the Terminal app. Tap Copy, paste, press Enter.

Download it and add your keys

Paste into Terminal. Then open the new .env file and paste your model key and your Zep key where it says to.

One command installs everything, the next one starts it. Then open http://localhost:3000 in your browser.

Run your launch through it

Upload your ad, your price and your launch page as the seed material, then describe what you want predicted in plain words. Something like this:

Here is my ad, my price and my launch page. Simulate how [WHO YOUR BUYERS ARE] react when they see this launch. Who ignores it, who buys, who pushes back, and why. Tell me what to change before I launch.

Can I use my OpenAI key?

Yes. It works with any model that uses the OpenAI format. Put your key in LLM_API_KEY, https://api.openai.com/v1 in LLM_BASE_URL and the model name in LLM_MODEL_NAME.

How much does a run cost?

MiroFish is free. The model calls are not, and a simulation makes a lot of them. Start with fewer than 40 rounds and check your provider's usage page.

Rather not install anything?

Docker works too: after copying .env.example to .env, run docker compose up -d. Or look at the live demo first.

Is the prediction right?

It is a simulation, not a guarantee. Use it to find objections and weak spots before you spend on the real launch.
